Wadden Experience

In the Ameland Nature Museum, MMEK’ has developed the 360° Wadden Experience for Rijkswaterstaat. Visitors take a spectacular and poetic tour over the Wad. During this multimedia show, it becomes clear how important the work that Rijkswaterstaat carries out on the Wadden Sea is.

The value of the design is in its simplicity. The interior of the theater has been reduced to the essence and is literally built around the media experience. The black and white circles and lines make the Experience almost mythical. Visitors enter a dark circular room that is lit only by the animation of the center projection.

We made the media production in collaboration with Metropolis Film. For this production we flew over the Wad with a drone – equipped with 9 GoPro cameras. This gives you as a visitor a unique view of the Wadden. The film has been expanded with a layer of technical data that provides more information about Rijkswaterstaat’s work.

MMEK’ is responsible for the concept and design, while Heijmerink Wagemakers was responsible for the project management, engineering and realization of the center.

We deliberately wanted to realize an impressive group experience, instead of everyone wearing their own glasses. This is the first production with 360˚ film images of the Wadden Sea area and is unique in combination with our round room. With this we have another great crowd puller this season.
