Wavin Academy

Wavin is the European market leader in the manufacture and marketing of plastic piping systems. The company has offices across Europe, and in some of the countries these offices also include a training centre. In order to standardise its procedures across all centres, Wavin decided to set up an experience centre in the Netherlands called Wavin Academy, which serves as an example for the centres in other countries. MMEK was commissioned to design this centre.

The new centre, located in the town of Hardenberg in Overijssel province, does not only contain a detailed product list, exhibits and practical areas to try out new products, the heart of the centre also includes a number of areas where visitors get to experience what makes Wavins products so special. These experience rooms are designed such that they can easily be exchanged in other countries with other types of content relevant in that particular region.

The centre has integrated Wavins new branding concept, Connect to better. Visiting customers discover what benefits Wavin products offer for their specific situation, with topics addressed including integrated water management, sustainability, and the benefits of easy installation.

The design principles of the centre and the design itself have been summarised in a manual and will be rolled out across Europe over the next several years.

In the experience rooms, we worked on the basis of a model developed by Joseph Pine; we place people in an attractive new setting where they can learn something new in an entertaining way.
