The renovation of the Afsluitdijk is a major multi-year project. The province of Friesland selected MMEK’ to make a tourist plan for Kornwerderzand. This former work island is a short stop for many passers-by over the dike.
The wish of the province is that visitors also learn to discover and appreciate the natural values of this area. MMEK’ has designed a number of visitor facilities that are interconnected by a number of walking paths. Each has its own function: watching birds or watching boats in the lock.
